Smith R Simpkins a Wilmington firefighter from Lattimer Estates, died shortly before 2 a.m. after an apartment fire. Doctors determined that he suffered a heart seizure from smoke inhalation. He was 44 years old at the time of his death. He was survived by his wife Margaret.
